These are a selection of pages I worked on from the 1996 Fisher Scientific Safety Catalog (and which of course are all copyrighted by FS). Most pages contain both new copy and pick-up copy. New copy was written by me, generated from product information supplied by the manufacturers and often further researched with phone calls and correspondence.
All the info on seaming techniques (Sample 4 shown here)was researched and expanded by me, for instance, while the cooling shirt (Sample 2) was a new product and so was written from scratch. (The initial page layouts were also my responsibility, and most changed little from inception to print--though fortunately we had talented designers to finalize this aspect of the catalogs.)

Pick-up copy is copy that was lifted intact from other FS catalogs, often with only minor updates or modifications. However, even the pick-up copy is often something I worked on in previous catalogs as well, and had usually been proofread by me many, many, many times! (Most FS catalog pages go through a minimum of 3 or 4 proofing/editing stages--and sometimes as many as 6 or 8--before
publication. So whether you're proofing, or writing and editing, you read that copy a lot!) While at Fisher I worked on a wide range of product sections, from microscopes to centrifuge tubes, and the following pages will show you a small sample of the type of work I did there.
