The Cruise Ship

 

radiant against the blue-black sky and sea,

a moon sailing by, limned in luminescence;

a snowy egret with secret sunlight,

a white shell filled with candles.

Stars echoed it, but cooler by far:

snow sparkle next to a vast floating luminaria,

a paper lamp

escaped

from its Obon festival.
